Today, I'm traveling to Harrisburg, PA to do a town hall on minimum wage. Minimum wage has been a major topic of discussion for the past several years, bring economist, politicians and analyst into the fray, all trying to figure out what's in the best interest of the American people and the U.S. economy.
Should minimum wage be increased or should it stay the same? As an entrepreneur and owner of WXBU, this is an issue that I'm glad we're able to bring to you. The Congressional Budget Office concluded that increasing the minimum wage would result in 500,000 Americans losing their jobs. Do the ends justify the means? Well, tonight we're going to find out!
In my unique position as a Pennsylvania employer and someone who employs countless others around the country, my perspective on minimum wage comes from someone in business. And though I understand that there are some in our society who are demanding an increase in wages, I am of the position that I would rather teach those individuals new and more advanced skills to make them more competitive in the workplace and more attractive to potential employers versus keeping them in low wage jobs.
However, tonight you were able to hear from all sides and draw your own perspective, which is what is most important. This is an issue that impacts all of us, and I am glad you were able to join us tonight for this exclusive town hall on the minimum wage war.
