Forgiveness also does not require pretending that harm never occurred. It means refusing to remain spiritually imprisoned by resentment. Forgiveness can release us from the belief that our future must remain chained to someone else’s failures. It does not erase accountability; it prevents pain from becoming our permanent identity.
