Love or hate President Donald Trump, there is one thing that he has consistently done that has been a breath of fresh air to all Americans.
The president has attended so many sports events and championships that bring Americans together regardless of their political affiliations, race, color or creed.
Trump attended several high-profile events in 2025, including the Super Bowl, UFC matches, the FIFA Club World Cup final in July — where he presented the trophy — and the Daytona 500 in February. Super Bowl 59 marked him as the first sitting president to attend the game. He also attended the NCAA Wrestling Championships and announced a televised athletic competition for high school students called the “Patriot Games.” Additionally, he signed an executive order addressing college sports issues, including Name, Image and Likeness rules.
This weekend, the president will be attending the U.S. Open, an event attended by Americans from across the country in his home state of New York.
If there is one thing that we can all agree on, it is that sports is not political. Trump recognizes that, and when he is in attendance, it is clear that he is here for the love of the game, but also for the love of all Americans.
